EVERYBODY STREET / by Steve Jin

I have a deep, unrequited fascination with street photography. I always feel that the greater the distance I have between myself and the people/streets that I want to photograph, the better it feels… which is a long-winded way to say that I love to take candids.

But I don’t think that’s street photography.

A huge element of street photography is the way it reveals, up close and personal, the people who occupy the public spaces in our cities for very brief moments in time. And as the photographer, it’s up to you to try to capture as genuine and true slice of the moment that you can.

I aspire to this. I guess I just have to keep practicing. And be wiling to take a step outside myself — maybe some very large steps.
